Chalki Island
……Island of peace and friendship
Chalki is the smallest inhabited island in the Dodecanese archipelago. It’s located just 6km to the west of Rhodes and less than 2 hours away from the Turkish coast by ferry boat.
Characterized by UNESCO as the island of Peace and Friendship, Halki is a mysterious island with artistic landscapes that compose a beautiful image of a marvelous canvas, a charming village waiting to catch your attention. With mountains and imposing rocks that are perfectly combined with sandy and pebble beaches. The old naval glory of the 19th century is imprinted in the splendor of aristocratic mansions with high ceilings, wonderful sea views, colorful shutters, balconies and gardens.
The only settlement of the island, Nimporio, amphitheatrically adorns the harbor, where fishermen cast their catch in the mornings and their nets in the evenings to prepare them for the following day.
Chalki is the "island of peace and friendship among peoples" and for many years now has been hosting the annual meetings of youth.
With the island remaining untouched by commercialism and mass tourism, there is no doubt that this is the best place to be if you want ultimate relaxation and peace of mind.
