Palios Agios Athanasios, Pella
A traditional Settlement in Pella
The old village Agios Athanasios is built at an altitude of 1200 m at the foot of the mountain Voras (or Kaimaktsalan) on top Piperitsa.
The village was built in the late of 16th century and inhabited until the late 1980’s. The residents were moved to the new settlement located 6 km beneath the old St. Athanasios.
The visitors that will come in Ag. Athanasios, will admire the tiled buildings of the village, examples of traditional local architecture built of stone.
An important landmark of the village is the church of Analipseos that was built in late 1700.
Today the traditional village of Agios Athanasios is a pole of attraction for tourists and skiers in Bora.
