Hydra is one of the Saronic Islands.

– It’s located about 160 kms from Athens and it’s just a 2 hours ride by car.

– You can also get there by hydrofoils that depart from Piraeus; the trip lasts for 1.30 hour.

From your very first visit, a magic feeling surrounds you!

Perhaps it’s in the unique architecture and graphic scenes throughout the Island, or perhaps it’s in its long historyand rich heritage, or even – a fusion of all.
The harbor town is also named Hydra. All around the bay picturesque white houses are interspersed with great stone mansions built by shipping wealth from past centuries.

Colorful shops line the quay, but the 18th century clock tower from the Monastery of Panagia dominates the view.

The island is popular with artists and hosts many cultural events during the year. It is ideal for those who are interested in nature and has many walks with breathtaking scenery.

Hydra is an island of leaders and has given birth to 5 Prime Ministers, 1 President of the Democracy, about 50 Political Ministers and an Archbishop.

It has offered more to the history of Greece than any other place.

Main characteristic of Hydra is that there are no wheeled vehicles and the transportation of people is being made only by donkeys, a thing that makes the Island even more romantic.

A stroll through the town’s picturesque cobble stone streets will convince you of its uniqueness
